TxB Cardio is the world’s first automated assay for the assessment of aspirin resistance or non-responsiveness.
Aspirin resistance is estimated to occur in 25-30% of individuals on low-dose aspirin therapy and such patients have been shown to be at significantly increased risk of future cardiovascular events.
Identifying these patients enables doctors to individually tailor their treatment to suit their specific needs (i.e. “personalised medicine”) and reduce their cardiovascular risk.
TxB Cardio is a urine-based, automated immunoturbidimetric assay that can be used on a huge range of clinical chemistry instruments. The assay assesses levels of the metabolite, 11dhTxB2, which has been shown to be an excellent measure of aspirin responsiveness. High levels of 11dhTxB2 (hence TxB Cardio) correlate to a 3.5-fold increased risk of cardiovascular death and 2-fold increased risk of myocardial infarction. |
