Randox ELISA tests for drug residue analysis

Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) is one of the most common tests conducted in immuno biochemistry providing a highly specific and cost effective method of detecting specific antibodies or antigens in the blood without the need for expensive equipment.

How does ELISA work?

A sample containing an unknown amount of antigen is immobilised on the surface of a microtitre plate.  An enzyme labelled antibody specific to the antigen of interest is added and forms a complex with the antigen, a series of washes are then carried out to remove any proteins or antibodies that are not specifically bound.  Finally the substrate is added and converted to visible signal which corresponds directly to the quantity of antigen in the sample.

Randox provide an extensive range of highly sensitive, cost effective ELISA kits for use in:

  • Screening farm animals for growth promoters, anabolic steroids and antimicrobial drugs
  • Assessing food quality
  • Monitoring show and competition animals for performance enhancing drugs

Randox ELISA kits are suitable for use with a wide range of sample types including urine, serum, meat, feed, milk and honey.  Our kits are in excellent correlation to the GC-MS method and provide many cost and time saving advantages over this method:

  • 5 to 10 times greater sensitivity
  • Easier to use
  • Faster
  • Lower set-up costs
