What is Salicylate (Aspirin) assay used for?
Salicylate has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties and is commonly used due to the lack of serious side effects at normal therapeutic doses. This assay is used in the diagnosis of salicylate toxicity and overdose. Over dosage of Salicylate can cause metabolic acidosis, gastrointestinal and central nervous system disturbances, as well as encephalopathy and renal failure.
