Randox sponsors Féile Róise Rua Festival in Donegal

Féile Róise Rua returns to your screens this year with an online festival programme including a live streamed broadcast from Árainn Mhór in partnership with Other Voices on the 15th of May.

Féile Róise Rua was set up in 2018 as a voluntary community based festival to revive the local music and song tradition on the island, in particular the music of local singer and song collector Róise Rua.

This year’s festival will include exclusive performances from some of Ireland and Scotland’s finest artists including Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Steve Cooney, Nia Byrne, Thomas McCarthy, Brian Danny Minnie, Anna Bean Uí Ghallachóir, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Griogair Labhruidh and Radie Peat (Lankum).

Viewers can expect to feel like they are at an intimate music session with these guests as they sing, play and interact with the audience throughout the live stream. There will be some new footage from musician and documentary maker Myles O’Reilly as he spends time on the island before the weekend. Viewers will feel as if they have travelled to Árainn Mhór to be part of the festival, including a live online singing session, dance workshops, song workshops and even a crankie making workshop.

Philip King, founder of Other Voices, said:

It’s just a delight  for all of us at Other Voices to be  partnering with Féile Róise Rua and to help bring a glimpse of this magical place to the world. As John Berger says “Songs can express the inner experience of being and becoming” and at Féile Róise Rua on Arranmore Island with songs and singing, tradition, translation and transmission at the heart of the festival, that’s exactly what happens.’

As part of the livestream the Féile Róise Rua community also hope to raise money for the local community centre which is central to life on the island and has been hit hard by the Covid 19 restrictions, causing huge loss of income.

Brian Mac Gloinn of Ye Vagabonds and a member of the Féile Róise Rua team, will host the sessions and said:

‘Between musicians and listeners, songs and tunes have their own space in the air, in our collective voices and in our imaginations. On the 15th of May, at Féile Róise Rua’s live stream, I look forward to sharing this space on the island, through our online connections, with a brilliant gathering of musicians and an audience all over the world.’

The festival is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland, Foras na Gaeilge, Ealaín na Gaeltachta , Randox, Donegal County Council and Three Ireland.

Aislinn O’Connor, Marketing Director UK & Ireland at Three said:

“At Three Ireland we’re delighted to be able to bring connectivity once again to Arranmore island – this time providing Ireland’s fastest network to the Féile Róise Rua Music & Singing Festival in association with Other Voices. So, sit back, relax, and turn the volume up on what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of live Irish music.’

It will be broadcast live via Féile Róise Rua and Other Voices on Facebook, Twitter & Youtube on 15th May at 8pm. For more information, go to www.feileroiserua.com or follow Féile Róise Rua on all social media.

Randox launches €99 Express COVID-19 Testing Service at Dublin Airport

Randox launches €99 Express COVID-19 Testing Service at Dublin Airport

16 November 2020: Randox launches 99 Express COVID-19 Testing Service at Dublin Airport

A 99 Express COVID-19 Testing Service which launches this week in a new Travel Testing Centre at Dublin Airport, will see the creation of 50 new jobs.

The testing service from Randox, a laboratory partner in the UK’s National COVID-19 Testing Programme, utilises a robust and reliable method of testing known as PCR, which Junior Minister for Transport Hildegarde Naughton described as “the gold standard” for travel testing.

The launch of the Randox Health Travel Centre, which offers rapid next day delivery of results for pre-departure screening as well as on-arrival testing to reduce quarantine timeframes, comes just after Ireland aligned itself with the new EU ‘traffic light’ system to co-ordinate international travel, on Sunday 8th November.

Sophie Boyd, Project Manager for the Randox Express COVID-19 Testing Service, explained;

 “With the introduction of the new EU traffic lights system, some people will need a COVID-19 test before travelling or equally, will want a negative test result simply for their peace of mind.

“We are delighted to have secured a location at Dublin Airport, that allows us to extend our rapid and reliable COVID-19 Testing Service, already used by a range of well-known companies, airlines and elite sporting organisations, to individual passengers and consumers.”

The Irish Government has agreed that, whilst those arriving from red zones currently have to quarantine for 14 days, this could soon be waived following a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken five days after arrival in Ireland.

Sophie continued;

“Travel requirements during the pandemic continue to evolve, but with the introduction of the EU traffic light system, a common prerequisite to travel or to shorten existing quarantine periods will be a negative PCR COVID-19 test, which is currently the only method of COVID-19 testing recognised and approved by every country worldwide.

“With significant capacity in place to implement high volume PCR testing, we welcome the opportunity to bolster the travel industry’s enormous efforts to restore public confidence in international travel.

“We are committed to providing the most cost-effective and accurate test in the market to assist with the normalisation of travel, and so Randox will be opening a number of regional travel centres across Ireland over the coming weeks.”

Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison said the health and safety of passengers and staff had been the airport’s key priority during the pandemic and that continued to be the case;

“We continue to operate a range of globally-recognised COVID-19 safety measures for the health and wellbeing of all airport visitors, and with the official opening of the Randox Health Travel Centre at Dublin Airport we can further support our passengers by offering them access to testing facilities onsite at the airport.”

The Randox €99 Express COVID-19 Testing Service is open to all asymptomatic individuals and operates from the Randox Health Travel Centre beside Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport, as well as at a testing facility in Leopardstown Dublin.

In the coming weeks Randox Health Travel Centres will also open in Galway, Limerick and Cork.

    New Express COVID-19 Testing Service with next day results launched in Dublin

    06 November 2020: New Express COVID-19 Testing Service with next day results launched in Dublin

    A new express COVID-19 testing service has now launched in Ireland, with a rapid next day delivery of results.

    From global diagnostics provider Randox, a laboratory partner in the UK’s National COVID-19 Testing Programme, the service utilises a robust and reliable method of testing known as PCR, the only method recognized and approved for travel testing.

    The PCR testing, which Junior Minister for Transport Transport Hildegarde Naughton described as “the gold standard,” is available in Dublin for pre-travel clearance, or simply for those wanting a COVID-19 test for peace of mind.

    Sophie Boyd, Project Manager for the Randox Express COVID-19 Testing Service, explained;

     “We appreciate that many people will want a COVID-19 test before travelling home this Christmas, or equally, will want a negative test result to reduce quarantine times and enable them to spend more time with loved ones.

     “PCR testing is currently the only method of COVID-19 testing which is recognised by every country worldwide. Our rapid, accurate and reliable testing service, used already by a range of well-known companies, airlines and elite sporting organisations, will help get plans off to a hassle-free start for travellers and non-travellers alike.”

    The launch of the Randox testing service comes just as Ireland aligns itself with the new EU ‘traffic light’ system to co-ordinate international travel, on Sunday 8th November.

    The Government has agreed that, whilst those arriving from red zones currently have to quarantine for 14 days, this could soon be waived following a negative test result from a COVID-19 test taken five days after arrival in Ireland.

    “We have significant capacity in place to implement high volume testing and with our PCR testing service, we look forward to supporting the travel industry’s enormous efforts to restore public confidence in international travel.”

    The Randox Express COVID-19 Testing Service is priced at €99, is open to all asymptomatic individuals and operates from the Clayton Hotel in Dublin.

      The event started early in the morning with individuals being tasked to complete a 10k run, 42.5k cycle, 2k hike and 1k kayak along one of Ireland’s most beautiful coastlines – the run even featured a stint on the live runway of Donegal airport!

      Ireland-U.S. Council honour Randox founder with Business Relations Award

      The Ireland-U.S. Council in America have this week presented the founder of healthcare diagnostics company Randox Laboratories with an award marking significant achievement in building relations between Northern Ireland and the United States of America.

      Presented to Dr Peter FitzGerald at the 56th Annual Dinner of the Ireland-U.S. Council yesterday evening, the accolade, named the Cúchulainn award, recognizes the efforts of individuals who go above and beyond to support the objectives of the Ireland-U.S. Council – to improve the business bonds and commercial connections between Ireland, Northern Ireland and the United States.

      Joining an exclusive line-up of some of the most prominent business figures in both Ireland and the United States recognized by the Ireland-U.S. Council, including CEO of International Airlines Group William Walsh, Dr FitzGerald was presented with the prestigious award at The Metropolitan Club in New York City.

      Dr. Peter FitzGerald, Founder and Managing Director of Randox Laboratories, commented;

      “I am most honoured to be here this evening to accept the Cúchulainn award from the Ireland-U.S. Council in recognition of the work undertaken by Randox in the United States since the early 1980s when we began to export our diagnostic healthcare products. The United States remains one of Randox’s most important markets, in which we are growing at pace thanks to the ongoing development of innovative new products in not only the healthcare sector, but also the veterinary, research, toxicology and food safety industries.”

      The Ireland-U.S. Council was founded in 1962 by a group of American and Irish business leaders as a measure to build an established structure which would encourage closer economic relations, and was initially created to assist in making preparations for the first-ever State Visit of a sitting U.S. President to Ireland by President John F. Kennedy from June 26 – 29 in 1963.

      David O’Sullivan, Executive Director of the Ireland–U.S. Council, added;

      “Ever since the State Visit to Ireland by President John F. Kennedy, the Ireland-U.S. Council has been engaged in efforts to achieve our transatlantic mission. Dr FitzGerald of Randox Laboratories truly embodies the essence of this mission by aligning his business in Ireland closely with businesses in the US, to maximise the positive outcomes for both parties. We are delighted to present him this evening with the Cúchulainn award – for the significant contributions he has made to the development of closer economic, business and commercial ties between our two nations.”

      Dungloe to host Randox Health Grand National Celebration Event

      In celebration of this year’s Randox Health Grand National, the sponsors of the world’s greatest race are hosting a Family Fun Day in Dungloe, Donegal on Saturday 14th April.

      Held at Randox Teoranta, the world-leading life sciences, engineering and manufacturing facility, the event will mark how far the company has come as it takes to the world stage for the Randox Health Grand National, and recognise the support the company has received from the local community since its establishment in Dungloe in 2008.

      Randox Managing Director, Dr Peter FitzGerald, commented;

      “Our aim to offer world-leading science, engineering, software and manufacturing careers in west Donegal, so that people working in these fields no longer have to move away from home to find work, has been incredibly well-received. We’re therefore delighted that we will be able to join together in Dungloe on Randox Health Grand National Day to celebrate how far we have come.

      “With performances from Laura Aisling Academy of Irish Dance and Fitness, and traditional music played by the Rosses Community School, it is sure to be a wonderful event celebrating all aspects of our Irish heritage – including of course traditional music and dance but also the thriving equestrian scene and the many Irish horses who will be running in the Randox Health Grand National!”

      Taking place between 1pm and 6pm on Grand National Day, the event is free for all the family, with plenty of entertainment, including a bouncy castle, live music and dance, and a rodeo bull, as well as food, drink, craft stalls and a large screen for the public to watch the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree in Liverpool.

      Guests to the Family Fun Day will be joined by radio personality Seán Bán Breathnach, who will be presenting RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta’s sports programme Spórt an tSathairn live from the event.

      Seán Bán Breathnach, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, commented;

      “I’m really looking forward to the live programme. It will be a great day out for the community thanks to Randox Health, and there’s sure to be a brilliant atmosphere so I’d encourage people to come along.  I can still remember listening to my first ever Grand National, back in 1958, on our new family wireless radio.  That year, for the first time in many years, it was won by an Irish horse Mr. What, and who knows, maybe we’ll be lucky again this year!”

      Following the reveal of the new Randox Health Grand National trophy on Thursday 12th April, the event will also host an art competition, for which school students in the area have been asked to submit their own trophy designs for the world’s greatest race. Winners will be announced on the day.

      Randox Teoranta announce fourth year of WAAR sponsorship

      Randox are proud to announce that Randox Teoranta, for the fourth year running, is the main sponsor for WAAR 2018, an event which places mental wellbeing at its core. Launched at the weekend, on Friday 23rd February 2018, this year’s Wild Atlantic Adventure Race promises to deliver an incredible display of stamina, strength and perseverance as outdoor pursuit enthusiasts once again brave the elements to complete the demanding 55.5km course or 39km sprint.

      The full Wild Atlantic Adventure Race (WAAR) features a 10km run, 42.5km cycle, 2km hike and 1km kayak, starting and finishing at CLG Naomh Muire, The Banks, Mullaghderg, Co. Donegal on Saturday 12th May 2018. Set along one of the most beautiful natural coastlines in the world, the west coast will once again play host to one of the most challenging yet enjoyable races, featuring both novice and elite individuals, as well as several relay teams.

      This year, fundraising efforts will be donated to CLG Naomh Muire. Launching the event was best-selling author and TV personality Majella O’Donnell who overcame breast cancer in 2013.

      Hailing from Co. Tipperary and married to Irish country music legend Daniel O’Donnell, Majella became iconic in her own right when she shaved her head live on The Late Late Show in 2013, raising €600,000 for The Irish Cancer Society. Majella also documented her life story in her book ‘It’s All in the Head.’ The book’s moving tale quickly became a number one Irish best-seller and 2014 Irish Book Award-winner.

      Majella’s own force of character and deep-seated determination makes her a worthy representative to launch WAAR 2018, an endurance race that will test the physical and mental stamina of participants to their limits.

      Dr. Ciaran Richardson, Head of Research & Development at Randox Teoranta in Dungloe, said:

      With a focus on the transatlantic operations building bridges between the two countries, the awards celebrate those bringing business in Ireland to global heights in the belief that by doing so they are embedding peace for future generations.

      The 50 honourees will be announced at a gala event hosted by the Irish Echo, the USA’s largest and most widely read Irish American weekly paper, at Pier A, Harbor House.

      The tenth annual celebration will be addressed by Constance Hunter, Chief Economist of KPMG and Daniel Dromm, NYC City Council member and Chair of the Education Committee, and takes place as part of the two-day conference. This prestigious event highlights the progress and prosperity of both cities, and looks optimistically to the future while celebrating our shared past.

      Movie makers, scientists, tech companies and engineers have been among those who have received the plaudit in recent years. They have included the all-conquering production company, HBO; leading law firm A&L Goodbody; pioneers in scientific imaging Andor Technology and the New York Stock Exchange.

      This year’s US-Ireland Top 50 has proven to be just as illustrious with Randox Laboratories, Northern Property, Norwegian Airlines, and Bank of Ireland as just some of the companies being recognised for their success.

      Editor of the Irish Echo, Ray O’Hanlon, who will host Friday’s event, said the awards were an acknowledgment of the unique bonds between the two nations.

      “The unmistakable and unbreakable bonds between Ireland and the United States have proven a key element in Ireland’s progression, both in terms of peace and prosperity. Those bonds grow ever stronger when underpinned by economic growth and business relationships. With the Ireland-US Top 50 we acknowledge those companies whose transatlantic operations support that ongoing development and welcome them to this illustrious list of business beacons.”

      Dr. Peter FitzGerald, Founder and Managing Director of Randox Laboratories, commented;

      “The US is one of our most important markets and we have been exporting our diagnostic products there since the early 1980s.  We have seen substantial success in this market and have secured for example, key clinical chemistry analyser contracts in Ivy League Institutions such as Yale University School of Medicine and Harvard University.

      “Our diversification into the veterinary, research, forensic and food safety sectors has enabled our operations in the US to expand further still, and due to this increasing demand for Randox innovations, we are developing a new facility in the Greater Washington DC area.

      “It is a tribute to the entire Randox team, both in Co Antrim and Co Donegal, that we have been named as one of the US-Ireland Top 50.  We hope to serve as an example to other aspiring businesses that success is possible with a unique product offering, a commitment to investment, and making use of the support network available across the United States.”
