RX series – HbA1C
HbA1c refers to glycated haemoglobin which is a product of haemoglobin (a protein which can be found in red blood cells) and glucose from the blood making it glycated. Testing for HbA1c gives us an indication of what an individual’s average blood sugar level has been over recent weeks/months. This is significant for those who suffer from diabetes because the higher the levels of HbA1c the higher the chance of an individual suffering from further diabetes related issues.
The latex enhanced immunoturbidimetric method which the RX series utilises makes the test simple and quick to perform. The removal of the pre-dilution step removes the risk of human error compromising your results. Certified by the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program (NGSP), the RX daytona+, RX imola & RX modena are all capable of utilising direct on-board HbA1c which can revolutionise your diabetes testing capabilities. Accurate QC recovery & Sample recovery
Inaccuracies in sample and QC recovery are reduced as the offline preparation stage is now eliminated. By reducing the chance of results being compromised by human error the RX series direct HbA1c test creates a more effective laboratory and improves accuracy of diagnosis.
Fast Recovery Times
No offline calculations ensures faster recovery times. The RX series direct HbA1c test will increase your laboratories efficiency and will increase testing throughput.
Quick Calibration & QC Generation
Single assay testing allows faster QC and calibration. This is another time saving benefit of the RX series direct HbA1c which will further improve your laboratories efficiency.
No Incubation Step
No incubation step allows samples to be run immediately, the removal of the human interaction stage which is necessary on the traditional HbA1c methodology will ensure a higher level of accuracy and patient confidence in the results produced.
Non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) are molecules released from triglycerides by the action of the enzyme lipase and are transported in the blood bound to albumin. They contribute only a small proportion of the body’s fat, however they provide a large part of the body’s energy. Measurement of NEFA is important in diabetes where insulin deficiency results in the metabolism of fat. Levels are also frequently increased in obese patients.
Measurment of NEFA is particularly important in diabetes where insulin deficiency results in the metabolism of fat. Levels are also frequently increased in obese patients. With diabetes becoming more prevalent research surrounding diabetes is becoming significantly more relevant in today’s society.
Testing for D-3-Hydroxybutyrate can aid in the diagnosis of ketosis which is particularly important in diabetic ketoacidosis. Ketosis occurs when carbohydrates are not available and the body uses fat for energy production.
Metabolism of fatty acids in the liver results in the production of ketone bodies, consisting of acetone, acetoacetate and D-3 Hydroxybutyrate. Levels of ketone bodies in the blood are elevated (ketosis) when synthesis exceeds breakdown. D-3-Hydroxybutyrate is the major ketone body in the blood- during ketosis D-3-Hydroxybutyrate levels increase more than levels of acetone and acetoacetate making this the more sensitive marker of ketosis. Similar to our NEFA test Ranbut and all research regarding diabetes is becoming more in demand due to the rapid rise in the population which are now suffering from the illness.
Fructosamine is a mid-term indicator of diabetic control as it can provide information on a person’s average blood glucose levels over the previous 14-21 days.Because of it’s shorter time span of it’s often used to evaluate the effectiveness of medication changes and to monitor the treatment of gestational diabetes. Fructosamine is also particularly useful in situations where HbA1c cannot be reliably measured e.g. haemolytic anaemia, thalassemia or with genetic haemoglobin variants.
