Benefits of the VeraSTAT-V
An Introduction to the NEW VeraSTAT-V
The latest edition to the Randox Veterinary diagnosis panel is the VeraSTAT-V, a convenient stable-side device designed to detect the earliest signs of inflammation. The VeraSTAT-V measures levels of Serum Amyloid A (SAA), the fastest blood marker to rise in response to inflammation, quickly and accurately.
The VeraSTAT-V device measures quantitative levels of SAA in blood distinguishing systematic infection from injury prone inflammation. Highly accurate results help owners to make informed decisions about the next course of action.
Working examples include monitoring potential inflammatory injuries of a competition horse which has undergone a rigorous training schedule, while high levels of SAA have been detected in foals with sepsis or localised infections, allowing for the early detection of any abnormalities.

Reviews
“At Umnugovi race yard, we pride ourselves on ensuring all aspects of horse care is well managed. With over 100 valuable horses, monitoring and managing risks from infection and inflammation quickly is a must. Before bringing on board the Randox VeraSTAT-V and using the point of care eSAA tests, we were reliant on sending samples to a laboratory for screening and waiting results which did not fit with our needs. Turnaround time was too slow. By having the VeraSTAT-V on site, we can easily run and get results within 10minutes to view suspected injuries or concerns. Since we’ve been using the machine, we’ve identified horses with injuries and horses with bacterial infections quickly, allowing us to react faster on treatment. We’ve notice that the level of eSAA of injured horses is lower than horses with bacterial infections, this difference has greatly assisted in deciding the right treatment path. With the upcoming race festival this year, the VeraSTAT-V will be of great value. Its small, easy to use, and only requires a few drops of the horse’s blood, minimising stress to the animal. It is an ideal machine of quality on-site testing, rather than waiting for results from a laboratory. We really see the benefit.”
