Boxing encourages a healthier lifestyle, which benefits both physical and mental wellbeing.

Boxing provides a rush of endorphins – a natural mood booster.

Boxing can help to relieve symptoms of anxiety and depression by focusing the mind and body in the present moment.

Boxing provides a source of distraction as individuals engage with a fun activity that they look forward to.

Being part of a supportive sports club is a chance to socialise, and instills a sense of achievement, whilst building confidence and self-esteem.

Boxing provides a controlled and safe environment to release any frustration, stress and anger.

The Townland Boxing Club in Glenavy was founded in 2008 by a group of dedicated people interested in the sport of boxing and improving youth facilities in the area. The amateur boxing club, which is a completely voluntary organisation, was opened with a purpose to give young people in the area a place to meet, form friendships, learn the discipline, respect and skill required to become an amateur boxer, and of course look after their health and wellbeing.

Townland coaches are dedicated to helping kids learn the sport and keep fit and to offering kids a safe place to train and be part of a team. Classes at The Townland Boxing club are available for kids from 7 and up, and the club also offers adult Keep Fit classes.
