VeraSTAT-V | Veterinary Excellence
Accurate & Reliable Results in Minutes
Why Choose the VeraSTAT-V?
The latest edition to the Randox Veterinary diagnosis panel is the VeraSTAT-V, a convenient stable-side device designed to detect the earliest signs of inflammation. The VeraSTAT-V measures levels of Serum Amyloid A (SAA), the fastest blood marker to rise in response to inflammation, quickly and accurately.
The VeraSTAT-V device measures quantitative levels of SAA in blood distinguishing systematic infection from injury prone inflammation. Highly accurate results help owners to make informed decisions about the next course of action.
Working examples include monitoring potential inflammatory injuries of a competition horse which has undergone a rigorous training schedule, while high levels of SAA have been detected in foals with sepsis or localised infections, allowing for the early detection of any abnormalities.

Equine Serum Amyloid A: A Valuable Inflammatory Marker
Serum Amyloid A (SAA) is a protein the liver produces in response to inflammation. SAA is released into the bloodstream to help the immune system fight infection. SAA is the fastest marker to rise in response to inflammation making it a valuable marker for detection.
The ability to accurately detect infection in as little as 6 minutes, and from the convenience of the stable yard, is beneficial to both horse and owner. Treatment can be started immediately; recovery time can be shorter and the horse can return to work earlier.
SCREEN, DETECT, PROTECT: Infection is invisible, detection isn’t
Starting at base
A healthy horse’s SAA levels are low or even undetectable. Inflammatory conditions increase the levels of SAA by up to 1000 times the baseline level, so understanding SAA levels delivers valuable insight.
The horse’s liver responds to infection in as little as 6 HOURS and SAA is released into the blood to help fight the infection. Early diagnosis means that you can ACT FAST to shorten recovery time.
SAA levels stay elevated until the infection subsides. Monitoring SAA levels over time, will track how long the infection persists and answer the question, ‘Is the treatment working?’
Indicator treatment is NOT working
SAA levels should decrease following treatment, therefore continued heightened levels of SAA may be an indicator that the treatment has not worked, and an alternative treatment may be required.
